[ARCHIVED] Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

Drug Take Back social Oct 2023

The Miami Township Police Department will be collecting unused, unwanted and expired prescription drugs as part of a nationwide effort Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Miami Township Police Department, 2660 Lyons Road. Officers will accept tablets, capsules and patches. They cannot accept syringes, sharps, and illicit/illegal drugs.

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is designed to keep old prescription drugs out of the wrong hands. In April, Take-Back Day collected 232 tons of pills at nearly 5,000 collection sites nationwide. Most of those drugs came from family members and friends, right out of their home medicine cabinets. Experts say flushing drugs down the toilet or throwing them in the trash creates safety and health hazards. The Miami Township Police Department always has a disposal box in its lobby available during lobby hours, but the department is proud to take part in this special DEA Take Back Day, October 28, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
