[ARCHIVED] Miami Township to celebrate Lyons Road pedestrian pathway

Lyons Road pathway invite

Community cyclists and pedestrians will join community leaders to celebrate the completion of the Lyons Road pedestrian pathway during a special ‘ribbon drop’ ceremony on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at 9:30 a.m., on Lyons Road, near the ODOT outpost at 3100 Lyons Road.

Miami Township is celebrating the completion of the $1.8 million Lyons Road pedestrian pathway. It is the township’s first collaborative project with the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission (MVRPC) since rejoining in 2015. The new walkway extends from Byers Road east to SR 741. A new sidewalk then extends northward on SR 741 to Kingsridge Drive.

These improvements make for easier and safer access to Miami Crossing District shopping, restaurants, hotels and entertainment venues. The walkway is 10 feet wide along the street and 14 feet wide on the bridge over I-75. Cyclists from the LexisNexis Green Team, Huffy Corporation and residents from the Miamisburg at the Mall Apartments will be among the first to officially use the pathway. Special guests joining township trustees for the event include Paul Arnold of the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission and state Rep. Niraj Antani, R-Miamisburg.
