[ARCHIVED] Miami Township to sponsor active shooter training


Miami Township and the ALICE Training Institute are teaming up for a two-day Training Instructor Certification Course, Sept. 20-21, 2018, to be held at Moraine Heights Baptist Church, 5661 Munger Rd.

The two-day course is designed to teach proactive survival strategies for violent intruder or active shooter incidents. The goal of the program is to provide individuals with survival-enhancing options for those critical moments between the time a violent situation begins and when law enforcement arrives. ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate and is a useful strategy for law enforcement, schools, universities, hospitals, businesses and places of worship. It utilizes recommendations from various agencies including the Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Participants who complete the course will be ALICE-certified to share their new skills with others.
