Miami Township now offers Little Free Libraries in three of our parks. Visitors can take a book to read and enjoy. Return the book for others to enjoy and you can also donate books for adults and children alike. The little libraries are located at Waldruhe Park, 10000 Springboro Pike; Reeder Park, 9979 Lincolnshire Road in the Villages of Miami; and Miami View Park, 5911 Munger Road.
"Bringing Little Free Libraries to our township parks is incredibly exciting. This initiative truly came from our residents' valuable feedback during the Parks & Trails Plan's development. It's a wonderful opportunity to strengthen our community, boost literacy for our kids, and inspire more people to get out and enjoy our beautiful parks. We look forward to collaborating with our partners at the Miami Township branch of the Dayton Metro Library to keep these libraries filled with books for our community," Alex Carlson, Community Development Director, said.
To celebrate, the township is teaming up with the Dayton Metro Library-Miami Township branch to offer Family Storytime in the Park. These family-friendly events include a story, songs, and a craft. Our very own parks staff will be there to take part. Here is the schedule:
Tuesday, June 17: 10-11 a.m. at Waldruhe Park. Family Storytime will include a rock painting craft.
Tuesday, July 15: 10 - 11 a..m. at Reeder Park. Family Storytime will include a window decoration/light catcher craft.
Tuesday, August 5: 10 - 11 a.m. at Miami View Park. This Family Storytime has a back-to-school theme.
The Miami Township branch library is hosting each event. The events are dependent upon the weather. They may be canceled if inclement weather is forecasted.
