The Miami Valley Fire District is pleased to announce the appointment of Steven H. Johnson as the new fire chief, effective April 11, 2024. Fire Chief Johnson brings 34 years of extensive experience and a proven track record of leadership in the fire service industry.
In his new role, Fire Chief Johnson will lead the Miami Valley Fire District with a steadfast commitment to excellence in emergency response, community engagement, and organizational development. His vision and strategic approach will guide the Fire District into its next chapter of growth and service to the community.
“I am deeply appreciative to be chosen as the new Fire Chief for Miami Valley Fire District. I am committed to serving our community with dedication, integrity, and compassion,” said Fire Chief Johnson.

"His expertise and dedication to public safety make him the ideal candidate to continue the legacy of excellence established by the fire district."
As part of the leadership transition, former Fire Chief Brandon Barnett, has taken on a new position within the organization. Chief Barnett's tenure as Fire Chief has been marked by significant achievements and progressive growth over the past 2 years. In his new role, Chief Barnett will continue to contribute to the ongoing success and development of the Miami Valley Fire District as an assistant chief.
