The Miami Township Police Department is planning added enforcement of Ohio’s DUI laws during a Thanksgiving Blitz campaign November 24 – November 28, 2022.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 821 people died nationwide in alcohol-impaired crashes from 2016-2020, during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
“Just one DUI death is too many,” Sgt. James McCarty, Miami Township Police Department, said. “By adding extra patrols, we can focus more attention on not only getting impaired drivers off the road, but also reducing the number of traffic crashes. There is zero tolerance for DUI.”
The Miami Township Police Department will also add patrols December 17 – December 31, 2022, for a Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign. The campaign is part of a NHTSA grant the police department received for 2022.
