The Miami Township Police Department is the recipient of two grants to help better serve the community. With the assistance of the township Finance Department, the Ohio Township Association Risk Management Authority (OTARMA) presented a check for $1,500 to staff.
The Police and Fire Policy Grant provides $1,000 to assist with administrative duties such as updating policies and procedures. This fund is expected to assist the police with its CALEA (Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies) accreditation renewal. The MORE (Managing Ohio Risk Exposures) Grant provides $500 toward safety equipment expenses. The police department will purchase several new bulletproof vests. Last year, the Public Works Department received this grant for the purchase of reflective yellow safety shirts.
OTARMA is a self-insurance pool endorsed by the Ohio Township Association. It was established in 1987 to help provide Ohio townships with alternatives to traditional insurance.
