National Night Out
The Miami Township Police Department is dedicated to maintaining a strong partnership with the community we serve. Each year on the first Tuesday in August, we participate in National Night Out. The campaign works to strengthen our officers’ relationships with neighbors and promote a sense of community, while sharing useful information about ways to reduce crime and keep families safe.
Miami Township is ranked first in the nation among communities our size (15,000-50,000) by the National Association of Town Watch. Our residents host block parties, cookouts, and park events to name a few.

A Note from NNO organizers:
The Miami Township Police Department mission statement declares dedication to our residents and community to protect life and property. In order to protect life, Chief Stiegelmeyer has decided to cancel our 2020 National Night Out (NNO) celebration.
The uncertainty of the pandemic does not allow us to properly plan an NNO celebration which ensures the safety of all participants. It is a difficult decision because we are currently in first place of the National Association of Town Watch National Night Out Award Winners in category 4.
This was our year to finally celebrate being in first place with all of you who made it possible. Regrettably, 2020 will be the first year that the department has skipped NNO since 1993, twenty-seven years ago
Initially, we thought the delay would be enough time to get a plan in place to allow us to celebrate NNO and keep everyone safe from the virus. Even with social distancing and wearing a face mask we cannot be sure everyone will be safe.
We want to thank you for all of our past NNO memories, and we look forward to 2021 when we hope we will be able to safely gather together again.
